'Jeopardy!' Got This Clue About the Detroit Free Press Wrong:
"What is the 1831 founding date of the 185-year-old newspaper known online as freep.com."

DETROIT, MI – “Jeopardy!” had a “Wheel of Fortune” moment Monday, but instead of a player blowing an obvious puzzle, the smart people’s quiz show got its own clue about a top Michigan newspaper wrong.
The clue: "freep.com is the website of this paper, a Michigan institution since 1835."
Author Jonathan Franzen, who is raising money for charity with co-competitors NBC “Meet the Press” anchor Chuck Todd and CNN’s S.E. Coop during “Power Players” week, responded:
Find out what's happening in Royal Oakfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
That was correct for $1,000.

But there’s a problem:
The Detroit Free Press has been an institution since 1831, not 1835, and, in fact, just celebrated its 185th birthday on May 5.
Freep reporter Matt Helms lay the whole thing out on Twitter.
Huzzah! The @freep was just a clue on Jeopardy! pic.twitter.com/gza5mrgTZo

We're stumping Alex Trebec. @Freep has been around since 1831. Oops! pic.twitter.com/K0FJNEu52C

Dear @Jeopardy, We love you, but @freep has been On Guard since 1831, not 1835. #OnGuardfor185Years #Detroit pic.twitter.com/ZkZ17nJnYR
