OCHN’s releases community behavioral health needs assessment

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (March 2, 2022) – Understanding the behavioral health needs of
Oakland County’s residents is a crucial step in the development of Oakland Community Health
Network’s (OCHN) three-year strategic planning process for Fiscal Years (FY) 2023-2025.
OCHN leads a provider service network that assists approximately 23,000 Oakland County
citizens at more than 300 service sites across the county. People who receive public mental
health services through OCHN's provider network include individuals who have an intellectual or
developmental disability, mental health challenge, or substance use disorder. The majority of
these individuals have Medicaid insurance coverage.

The organization’s needs assessment was released in late February and is available for Oakland
County residents to offer input thru mid-April. Information gathered from the needs assessment
is being used to identify critical service delivery priorities that are person focused.

Important areas of concerns noted in past community needs assessment surveys include access
to crisis mental health services for children and their families; transportation; physical and mental health care integration; the direct professional support workforce shortage; and stigma. Persons served have also noted community inclusion and strengthening relationships as important.
