The joke(r) was on anyone who shared or retweeted a story about theft of the Caped Crusader's machine.

Police said Friday there’s no riddle to solve in a story about the disappearance of the Batmobile in metro Detroit, where Zack Snyder is filing the latest installment in the Batman v. Superman series.

That’s despite pervasive rumors that the Cape Crusader’s ride, unveiled by Snyder on Twitter this week, was stolen from a set of “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” according to pervasive rumors on social media and the Internet. Bleeding Cool was the first to report “scuttlebutt from sources” about the theft, offering no substantiating information.
“BATMAN v SUPERMAN Batmobile Reportedly Stolen by (Shocker!) Detroit Locals,” a headline on ComicBookMovie.com screamed, then jabbed: “... Well, they do say that the only thing which grows in the city is the crime rate …”

Relax, authorities say; there’s nothing for the superheroes to get their tights in a bunch about. “The Batmobile is safe in the Batcave where it belongs,” Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told the Detroit Free Press.
Officials with Warner Bros. didn’t respond to the rumors, but sources close to the production told the Free Press the story was a fake.
