What's Open, What's Closed in Royal Oak for Labor Day 2015

The Arts, Beats & Eats Festival will affect parking and 44th District Court.

The unofficial end to summer is approaching with Labor Day, which falls on Monday, Sept. 7.

Here’s what’s open and closed around Royal Oak this year.

City Hall will be closed on Labor Day, with regular hours resuming Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Royal Oak Public Library will be closed Friday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 7.

The Royal Oak Farmers Market will be open from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5, but will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day. Parking is free to market customers only.

The offices of the 44th District Court will open as usual at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, but will close at noon that day and will remain closed through Labor Day, resuming regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The court closure accommodates the need for parking with the annual Arts, Beats & Eats festival. Anyone who has matters to be filed with the court with a deadline of Sept. 4 will be continued to Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Parking garages will have normal operations until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. After 5 p.m. Friday and through Monday, Sept. 7, parking is $15. Passes will not be honored.

Surface public lots will have normal operations until 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. After 2 p.m. on Friday and through Monday, Sept. 7, parking is $15 per entry. Passes will not be honored.

All downtown meters will be permit parking only after 2 p.m. on Friday and through Monday, Sept. 7. Violation carry a $50 find.

Within an approximate one-half to one mile radius of the Arts, Beats & Eats festival, all parking in neighborhoods is on a permit parking only basis, and police will issuing $50 fines as a deterrent.

Trash collection will be delayed by one day.

Labor Day is a federal holiday. State and federal offices, except those needed for emergency services, will be closed.

There will be no mail delivery.

Most professional offices will be closed. For retail store hours, consult local businesses.
