What State Loves to Cuddle Up with a Romantic Movie?

Pucker up, Michigan.

You’re the most romantic state in the nation.

That’s according to Redbox, based on the number of romantic movies rented in 2014 at its 35,000 self-service DVD kiosks across the country, CNN Money reports. Some 8.700 Redbox users were polled for the ranking.

Michigan also had two mentions in the most-romantic cities – No. 2 Lansing and No. 8 Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo – on the Midwest-heavy list that revealed where people are most likely love to cuddle up and watch Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in “The Notebook.”

Customers ranked that flick the “most romantic movie of all time.” “Titanic” and “Pretty Woman” came in at No. 2 and No. 3 on the list of the most-rented movies in 2014.

The most romantic states in the country are clustered in the Midwest, with Wisconsin coming in as No. 2 on the list. Iowa, South Dakota, Indiana and Ohio were also in the Top 10. Could it be because they’re all in the Snow Belt? That doesn’t explain Alabama and Louisiana, where folks are also fond of romance.

They’re sure not lounging around watching Julia Roberts turn the trick that changes her life in “Pretty Woman” in hot and dry Midland, TX, the least romantic city, or in woodsy Oregon, the least-romantic state.

But here in Michigan, movie watchers can’t get enough of dreamy Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lawrence, Redbox customers’ favorite actors.
