WINTER STORM WARNING: Areas Could See 10 Inches of Snow (Expired)

Several southeast Michigan counties are under a winter storm warning, while a winter storm advisory is in effect for others.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Genesee and several other southeast Michigan counties through 10 p.m. Saturday.

Between 6 and 10 inches of snow could fall in some areas as snowfall intensifies in the afternoon and early evening hours, likely becoming heavy at times. Snow is expected to begin accumulating on roadways after 4 p.m.

A winter storm advisory for several other southeast Michigan counties, especially Wayne.

Light snow will expand across the rest of the region this afternoon, becoming heavy at times late in the day.

Far northern Wayne County could get up to 6 inches of snow before it tapers off this evening, the weather service said.

Expect travel difficulties, the weather service said, pointing out that falling overnight temperatures could result in slick roads. Visibility could also be limited.
