Woman Charged In Antisemitic Graffiti At Royal Oak Synagogue: Police

Officials found a swastika with the word "AZOV" spray-painted on an outside wall of the Woodward Avenue Shul, a Jewish cultural center.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A Clinton Township woman is facing charges after police said she spray-painted antisemitic graffiti on a Royal Oak Synagogue.

Randi Lucille Nord, 35, was charged with ethnic intimidation (a felony that carries up to two years in prison or a fine up to $5,000) and malicious destruction of a building (a misdemeanor that carries up to 93 days in jail or a fine up to $500).

Nord's bond was given a $75,000 bond, and she is not allowed to contact with Rabbi Polter or The Woodward Shul. Her next court appearance was not scheduled yet.

Police said Nord spray-painted a swastika with the word "AZOV" on an outside wall of the Woodward Avenue Shul, a Jewish cultural center. The word AZOV is associated with a Ukrainian militia group with Neo-Nazi leanings.

Officials removed the graffiti from the cultural center within a few hours.
