Woman Flees Royal Oak Police, Loses Tires In Wild Chase: Cops
The woman continued driving away from officers even after running over spike strips that blew out multiple tires, police said.
ROYAL OAK, MI — A Holly woman was arrested Thursday morning after leading Royal Oak officers on a long and wild police chase through multiple communities, Royal Oak Police said.
Officers tried stopping the 46-year-old woman in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe for a traffic violation in the area of Crooks and West 14 Mile roads at 1:08 a.m., police said.
The woman took off, driving west on 14 Mile Road toward the Coolidge Highway and then turned north into Troy, police said.

The SUV then got onto southbound Interstate 75 from Big Beaver Road and continued driving, even though one wheel was ground down to its brake rotors, officials said.
The SUV eventually exited Interstate 75 at MicNichols Road, where she continued driving west, police said.
When the SUV reached Woodward Avenue, it turned north and then tried to turn suddenly onto eastbound 7 Mile Road, where it crashed into a vehicle that was stopped at the red light, police said.
Royal Oak officers then approached the SUV and tried to arrest the woman, but she ignored officers and tried diving away, police said.
The SUV began spinning and placed an officer’s life in "immediate jeopardy," so he fired a shot into the vehicle, police said.
The round did not hit anyone in the SUV and the woman took off again, before finally coming to a stop at 7 Mile and John R roads, police said.
Officers then arrested the woman and found her 24-year-old son in the SUV as well, police said. No one was injured during the chase or shooting, police said.
Royal Oak and Michigan State Police officials are investigating the incident.
