The new Nonfiction Book Club for ages 5-12 will explore the fascinating life of honeybees and major challenges they are facing. A choice of titles will be available at the Youth Services Desk to checkout and read: The Case of the Vanishing Honeybees: A Scientific Mystery by Sandra Markle and The Hive Detectives: Chronicle of a Honey Bee Catastrophe by Loree Griffin Burns. The group will then meet on Monday, July 7 at 4:30 pm with Royal Oak beekeepers, Joan Mandell and Rich Wieske, to observe live bees in a demonstration hive, handle beekeeping equipment, and sample honey. Book pickup begins Monday, June 16 at the Youth Reference desk.
Registration is limited to 50. Visit ropl.org or call the Youth Reference Desk at 248-246-3725 for more information.
