AUDITIONS: Saline Varsity Blues Kids Cast and Junior Varsity Auditions for Musical Legends
(Saline, MI) Calling
all elementary and middle school performers! Musical Legends is the
name of this year’s major summer production by Saline Varsity Blues. That means
it’s time to build a cast that lives up to the title. It is the special time when students in grades
1 through 8 have the opportunity to audition for the cast of Saline Varsity
Blues, a show choir cast that performs two shows per season in Saline. KC and
JV casts will join the Varsity cast to put on the kind of show that has you
dancing in your seats.
Kids Cast
(grades 1-5) auditions take place March 31st and April 1st , and Junior Varsity Cast (grades 6-8) are
April 2nd and 3rd at Liberty School Auditorium in Saline,
6pm-8pm. Potential cast members are
required to attend both nights of auditions, one for dance (casual dress) and
one for vocals. Varsity Blues is seeking the best and brightest, however the
audition process is fun and low pressure.
Sam Scarlett is in the Junior Varsity cast and is
auditioning for his fourth year with the organization. He thinks auditions are fun and kids
shouldn’t be nervous. “Everyone there is starting out equally, there is no
reason to be embarrassed or worried,” he said.
“Just be yourself.”

Auditions are closed to parents so kids don’t have
to audition in front of an “audience”. Students from all areas are welcome to
audition, including Saline, Milan, Ann Arbor, Belleville, etc.
Terri Blovits is acting President of the VB Board of
Directors. She believes wholeheartedly
that being a member of Varsity Blues is much more than being just a cast of
performers.

“Being involved in Varsity Blues for eight years now
with my own cast member has made me realize that VB is so much more than a
performing show choir. It is a family, a place where life- long
friendships are made, and it is a safe and supportive place where our boys and
girls can step outside of their comfort zones and shine like the stars they've
always wanted to be,” Blovits said. “VB
educates our performers in all aspects of putting on a production, from
singing, acting and dancing, to choreography and staging.”
