Michigan International Speedway Gets New Face from Saline
Michael Sydlowski joins MIS as the vice president of sales and marketing in January.

The Michigan International Speedway in Michigan’s Irish Hills is getting a new face at the helm in January. Saline resident Michael Sydlowski is set to start his new position as vice president of the sales and marketing department on Jan. 3.
Sydlowski, 41, already has a tremendous amount of experience in the professional sports sales field, having worked in Auburn Hills at Palace Sports and Entertainment and the Detroit Pistons and former Detroit Shock, Learfield Sports/Rocket Sports in Toledo, Ohio as well as several colleges, including the University of Nebraska at Omaha and his alma matter, Kent State University in Ohio. He was with the Shock for their championship run in 2003 and the Pistons for their 2004 title.
It was Sydlowski's philosophy that impressed Roger Curtis, president of the speedway. Curtis said he during the interview Sydlowski talked about his time with the Pistons, saying "We don’t control the score, but we do control if a guest steps in gum or not while at a game." Curtis said that kind of attitude will fit in perfectly with the experience they want guests to have at MIS.

Sydlowski’s most recent employer was Alternative Revenue Development in Troy, Michigan as their vice-president of sales. The company assisted Michigan schools in raising money. Sydlowski replaces Dennis Bickmeier, who left MIS to become the president of MIS’ sister racetrack Richmond International Raceway in Virginia.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of joining such fine organizations in Michigan International Speedway and International Speedway Corporation,” Sydlowski said. “MIS has a reputation for being a first-class racetrack and treating fans, employees and sponsors with the utmost respect. I want to thank Roger for his trust and I look forward to working with and alongside him as we look to continue the level of excellence that MIS has become known for, as well as bringing MIS to new heights.”
