New Hairizon Salon Balances Experience With New Talent

Saline's downtown salon offers a ton of specialty services and stays open late.

Jill Fair bought in downtown Saline in 1989, after working there as a hair dresser for ten years. Since then, she and her salon have been a staple in the community. After more than 30 years in the business, Fair knows full well how to keep up with what is current.

“I have four employees now,” said Fair. “They each have their own favorite thing that they do.”

Fair’s employees, some of them considered “new talent,” are skilled and enthusiastic. They also have fresh ideas. Each of their bios and impressive educational histories can be found on the salon' website.

Megan Durrett is the nail technician.

“Megan’s thing is spa pedicures and she is very good at them,” Fair said.

The  mani/pedi area of the shop has a comfy, black leather massage chair for pedicures. Nearby on a wall shelf is a rainbow of  nail colors to choose from, and customers now have the trendy and reliable option of shellac, to keep nails chip free for up to two weeks.

Jamie Lyn is a stylist and the one to see for special occasions.

“She does make-up, facial waxing for eyebrows, upper lip and chin, and all the up-do’s,” Fair said.

All stylists are highly qualified for any customer requests, though they do have their favorites.

“Cassandra is one of my employees who really likes to do highlights,” Fair said.

Fair's customers are loyal—some have been with her since before she took ownership of the salon. She likes coloring hair the most because a little color can make a big difference.

“It doesn’t take a drastic change to make a difference and to make people feel better about how they look,” she said. “That’s what I like the most, to make people feel good about themselves.”
