Riverside Grill Great for Families, Morning Commuters Too
New restaurant features a coffee bar and family favorites.
The Riverside Grill is a café, deli and grill located on the Saline’s west side at 699 W. Michigan Ave. It opened mid-January of this year and has something to offer everyone. The menu features a full coffee bar, burgers, specialty deli sandwiches and sweet treats too.
Only open for three months, the Riverside Grill already has its regular customers. Steve Kenzie lives in Saline and stops in nearly every day.
“I’m here three, four, five times per week,” Kenzie said. “They’ve got good coffee, and food, too. Their breakfast sandwiches are very good.”

Ronnie Gammo is Riverside Grill’s owner.
“We use six ounces of meat on every sandwich,” he said, "and use high quality breads.”

There has already been buzz online about his Reuben sandwiches. There are three different kinds of Reubens on the menu featuring corned beef, pastrami or smoked wild turkey. Other fare include hoagies, grilled sandwiches, burgers, chicken and kabobs. The kids' menu has typical American cuisine favorites for $4.
Gammo is all about family. He is proud of his new business, and wants it to be a place where all families feel at home.He has been in business with his two brothers for the last thirteen years and appreciates having a family business. Even his staff are related to one another, three sisters and a cousin.
“It’s all about families,” Gammo said. "That is what I want for this place.”
The atmosphere is warm, inviting and clean with natural wood.
“Everything is new,” said the owner. There is a new floor and walls, and a mix of green and taupe glass tiles behind the coffee bar and in the restrooms. Customers can enjoy table top seating, or a more relaxed sitting area by a fireplace and flat screen television.
For early Michigan Avenue commuters, Gammo will soon begin extending his hours so early drivers can stop in for coffee on their way to work or school. Currently, Gammo opens his doors at 9 a.m.. He plans to extend his hours by opening at 5:30 am.
“I’m a coffee enthusiast, and want to have good coffee available,” he said.
For those on the go, or hanging out with coffee and WI-FI, there is also a large variety of sweet treats, worth mentioning are three different kinds of baklava. “The baklava is selling like crazy,” Gammo said.
The Riverside Grill is located at 699 W. Michigan Ave. in Saline. It is currently open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 734-470-6553.
