Saline Area Historical Society's Harvest Time Festival

Want to start off the
fall season in the best way? Come to Saline Area Historical Society’s Harvest
Time Festival. The festival is taking place Sunday, October 6 from 12pm to 5pm
at the Rentschler Farm Museum. The address is 1265 E. Michigan Ave. near Industrial
Drive in Saline. There is plenty of parking at the adjoining Sauk Trail
Shopping Center. There will be an admission price of $1 per adult.
Children may attend for free.

Joseph Vigilanti, our
blacksmith, will be working at the forge and Ted Micka, the Barn Doctor will be
on hand. Alex Weddon will offer a book signing of his latest book, “Close Calls
on the Farm”, a hilarious account of life with his siblings on their family
farm.

The purpose of the day is education and entertainment. The candy maker, the honey producer, the quilters, the basket weaver, and the spinner will each be on hand to offer their traditional crafts and trades.

Paul McCormack will
bring his Critters to do an interactive program that involves animals,
children, and adults. His performances at 12:00 and 2:00 will take place
outside the Lower Barn, on the cement paddock. The Saline Area Players will
perform in the Upper Barn at 1:00 and 3:00. They will offer a historic skit
with music and song.

The
old tractor will be coaxed into running and free wagon rides will be offered
all afternoon, or until the tractor no longer cooperates (whichever occurs
first).  As long as they last, children can pick out a pumpkin, paint

it and take it home at the end of their visit.
