BAKER COLLEGE INVITES YOUNG FAMILIES TO 'SUPERHERO' EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FAIR MAY 9
The fun event is free and open to young families and caregivers with children aged 1 to 8.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Baker College of Auburn Hills early childhood education program is presenting the 2015 Early Childhood Education Fair, Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Young families and caregivers with children aged 1 to 8 are welcome to attend this free event in the atrium of Baker College of Auburn Hills, 1500 University Drive, Auburn Hills.
“Baker College students will be demonstrating fun, age-appropriate, creative activities that can replicated at home so parents and caregivers can continue to inspire their children’s imagination and education,” Richarne Fuqua, dean of human services and early childhood education at Baker College of Auburn Hills. “This fair is one of many opportunities in which students in the Baker College early childhood education program can strengthen their teaching skills to become career-ready upon graduation.”
Baker College students will lead children through several age-appropriate, hands-on creative stations to become superheroes. Activities include:

o Designing a super hero/super power
o Designing a super hero cape

o Creating a super power object of choice
o Designing a mask and other superhero attire
o Hearing story readings by special superhero readers
o Posing in a photo booth
o Maneuvering through an obstacle course for superheroes
Other community groups will be participating in the fair. The Auburn Hills Police Department will provide fingerprinting and ID cards. Organizations including Great Start Collaborative-Oakland, Oakland County Child Care Council, Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency and Oakland Family Services will provide information about their services.
Registration is not necessary to attend the fair, but early arrival is suggested, as some supplies may be limited. Complementary snacks will be available. Attendees should enter at the south entrance of the Baker College of Auburn Hills.
Through a combination of classroom studies and fieldwork in childcare settings, the Baker College early childhood education associate program prepares students for the Child Development Associate (CDA) assessment process, the national credential required for teaching staff and child care directors in most U.S. states. This Baker College program is the only early childhood education program in Oakland County accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
