All Day K the Utica Way Family Fun Day set for June 3 at Beck

All-Day K the Utica Way Family Fun Day on June 3 will help preschool parents learn more about UCS kindergarten programs

Preschool parents looking for a first-class start for their children entering kindergarten are invited to the “All-Day K the Utica Way” family fun day, 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 at Beck Elementary, 54600 Hayes Road in Macomb, just south of 25 Mile Road.

The event will mix family fun events with informational sessions for parents on the unique all-day kindergarten program offered in Utica Community Schools.

All-Day K the Utica Way is being offered to all preschool parents in Utica Community Schools and across Macomb County who are exploring kindergarten options in 2012 and beyond.

At the free All-Day K the Utica Way Family Fun Day parents and children will enjoy an afternoon of activities, including storytelling, arts and crafts, entertainment and outdoor play. Refreshments will be provided.

At brief presentations throughout the afternoon, parents will also have an opportunity to learn about the unique features of the all-day kindergarten program in Utica Community Schools, including:

  • All-Day K is structured to meet the individual learning needs of each student.
  • All UCS kindergarten students will experience an environment that builds enthusiasm for learning in young children that will carry them through college.
  • All UCS kindergarten students will use iPad Apps and web-based software that extends their learning beyond their instructional day. The App will also allow parents to receive information at any time on student progress on specific units.
  • All-Day K focuses on small group instruction with their teacher.

Parent presentations will be offered at 1:30 and 2:15 p.m. at the Family Fun Day on Sunday June 3. UCS preschool and school-aged child care staff will provide supervision for children during the presentations.

Parents and children can also experience the excitement of their first ride in a big yellow school bus by taking advantage of a shuttle that will run continuously from Beacon Tree Elementary, 55885 Schoenherr north of 25 Mile Road in Shelby Township.
