Are You Headed to Traverse City this Summer?
Many people in southeast Michigan venture to the Traverse City area for some summer fun!

Many people in southeast Michigan venture to the Traverse City area for some summer fun! As a Father’s Day surprise, my family and I traveled to Traverse City to set sail on Grand Traverse Bay- Home of the Schooner Manitou. The Tall Ship Manitou is a replica of an 1800’s “coasting” cargo schooner, similar to those that sailed the Great Lakes and Atlantic Ocean.
Sailing out of Traverse City, Michigan, Manitou offers a Noon Sail, Afternoon Ice Cream Sail, and a popular Evening Sail. Of course being the ice cream lovers that we are, we chose the Afternoon Ice Cream Sail featuring Moomers Award winning ice cream...and boy we experienced a real treat!
Captain Dave and his staff were wonderful hosts for our two- hour sail. We toured the ship, chatted with the crew, and even participated in hoisting the sails. This was a once in a lifetime experience for the 6 year old who, now refers to his movements as port or starboard.

So, if you are venturing up north this summer and you are looking for an exciting new adventure… then I highly recommend the Schooner Manitou Cruise. Information can be found at:
