I'm an Italian American born in Sicily with the passion for tasty healthy food. I got this passion from my husband's grandmother, Nonna Angelina, and would like to share this passion with you.

Ciao a tutti (hi everybody),

I'm a bit nervous, this is my first blog ever, and I don't really know what to say, I guess the best way to start is by introducing myself.

I'm an Italian American born in Sicily, 3 miles away from the Temple fo Segesta. I emigrated to New York at the age of 11 and lived in Ridgewood, Queens until I turned 23 when I met my husband, Stefano, while on vacation in Trapani.

We got married and I have been living in Erice for the past 34 wonderful years, I have a son, Erick. He is a filmmaker and travels the world.

I always felt like I was a child of two countries, because in fact I was. So 12 years ago I decided to take the best of my two worlds and connect them.

Since then my quest has become the promotion of Sicilian wine and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) in the East Cost.

During my travels, I realized that the Italian American community had, and still has, a great desire to learn more about their ancestors.  That lead to the creation of www.theitalianheritage.it.  The mission of the website is to help Italian descents of the world find their roots.

With my research I found that the majority of the emigrants of the Province of Trapani area went to Detroit, and among the community I found my own second cousin that lives in Washington Twp, Carlo and his wife Lisa.

For the past five years, I have been coming and going from the Detroit area.

Now I'm establishing a great business by sharing my knowledge and passion on Sicilian wine and EVOO.

I'm convinced that the best way to reach a wider quantity of people would be to use internet.

A few months ago I started a program on my website www.nonnaangelina.com , every week I publish a recipe from the Mediterranean cuisine.  It was a fair success, people seemed to enjoy receiving my recipes, to the point that a local newspaper asked me if they could print in their publication one of my personal recipes.  I have to be honest, I liked that because it meant that I was doing something right.  So one day, I stumbled upon Patch.com and I sent a message to Marina Cracchiolo, asking her if she would be interested in publishing my recipes.  As a response she suggested me to start a blog.  And so here we are with this new project.

Arrivederci (see you soon)
