More than 5,000 help open 2012 UCS art show
One of Michigan's largest student art shows continues through Friday

A packed house helped kick off the 2012 UCS art show.
More than 5,000 students, staff and community members helped celebrate one of Michigan's largest student art shows at opening night activities on Monday.
Approximately 3000 pieces of student art are on display this week at the annual show, located at Ewell Elementary at 23 and Shelby roads.
Students are showcasing both 2D and 3D pieces, which include drawings in pencil, pastel, ink, paintings in tempera, acrylic, and oil, traditional and digital photography, short films, PSA's, video game design, fibers ranging in fashion to weavings, relief and in the round sculptures and newly made ceramic pieces.
Remaining times for this week are:
- Wednesday, April 18 from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;
- Thursday April 19 from 5-8 p.m.; and
- Friday, April 20 from 5-8 p.m.
Works from all UCS schools are represented at the show. In addition, instrumental and vocal students are performing in the gym each night of the show.
