Search for Rusty the 'Scared Dog' Continues

Searching for Rusty-a 20 pound Labrodoodle who has been missing in Shelby since Friday. We've seen him playing-now help us bring him home!

Patch Readers, it has been quite a long five days! On Friday, we lost one of our Wag ‘N’ Tails dogs. Rusty is an easily scared dog and has proven once again, that even in the most secure environments, anything can happen! As you may have seen, right after he was lost, I called channel 4, along with his owner Sally and we made sure to share the word with as many people as possible. His family, our entire staff and community have been searching 24 hours a day since Friday and we will continue until he comes home.

The good news is, we know he’s close by! He’s been seen a handful of times each day since Friday. One of our Wag friends saw him just Monday morning frolicking with deer near their home. The bad news is that this cute 20 pound Labrodoodle loves to run and was born with an aversion to being caught. Although his two years as a Wag dog have helped him trust his environment, he’s still a bit fearful and hard to catch. Myself, my staff, our dogs, search and rescue dogs and even a psychic have been out and continue to search.  Once this note posts, I’ll be out again today and will search with my team and Rusty’s owners through the night.

Rusty reminds us that our pets are our family and we MUST do everything we can to train them and keep them safe. Rusty’s fear is why he ran. Even with two years of fear training and great success, a loud noise scared him enough to bolt out of our secured grooming room and found an open door where deliveries were being made. Help us find Rusty, and help your dog stay safe by making sure they feel secure in their daily activities and lifestyle. Their home, their groomer and their day care facility should be a safe zone for them so that when scared they run to you, and not away.

Rusty’s owner, Sally Williamson stated over the weekend in her Channel 4 interview, “We keep spotting him, people keep seeing him and we can't get to him he keeps running.  Somebody has to be able to help us out and catch him.” Rusty and his owners are a part of our Wag family and we just want to see him safe and at home.

Rusty is micro chipped. We’re hoping for the best outcome and need the entire Shelby-Utica area to help out! He’s been seen mainly in the 26 Mile and Mound vicinity so please keep your eyes open. He’s bound to run if you see him. The best thing to do is call us at Wag as soon as you spot him and we’ll be close by to come help! You can find updates on Rusty’s location on Patch and via our facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/wagntailsMI  If you see Rusty, call 586-781-6400.
