Eisenhower "Toys for Tots" fundraiser generates Holiday Joy
The annual Eisenhower Telethon Thursday by the Student Council kicks off the holiday season.
The annual "Toys for Tots" campaign at Eisenhower High School proves to have a successful start this year with an amazing fundraiser.
Supported by many generous students and their families, the classroom telethon fundraiser by Ike's Student Council 'elves' took place during all hours of the school day on Thursday, giving classrooms the chance to win prizes while contributing to the US Marine Corps. sponsored campaign.
At the start of the hour, the telethon from the Media Center was broadcasted over the televisions across the school. Each class was able to contribute money towards a prize that was given out at the end of the bidding process. Then, after all classrooms were given a chance to donate towards the prize in a ten-minute period, the classrooms in the lead were able to out-bid each other for a grand prize in a three-minute period; a secondary prize was awarded each hour as well.

Some classroom prizes included a hot-cooked breakfast by the economics department, a barbeque prepared by the CTE department, designing your own t-shirt, walking tacos, pizza, cider and donuts, and going to a Tiger's baseball game in the spring of 2013.
The money raised by the students, staff, and other families in this fundraiser will allow for the Student Council to be able to purchase gifts for more than 1,250 less-fortunate children this holiday season, breaking last year's record. The Student Council, as well as other clubs at Ike, will be collecting new toys throughout the month of December in first hour classes for "Toys for Tots".

Not only did students find it fun to be able to bid on a prize each hour, but they found it rewarding to be able to contribute to a great cause this holiday season.
