Macomb Co. Man Arrested After Assaulting, Handcuffing Roommate: Police

Officials said the man, 31, assaulted his roommate and held her hostage inside a home at the Stony Creek Apartments in Washington Township.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Washington Township was arrested in connection to a domestic violence assault Wednesday, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said the 31-year-old man assaulted his roommate and held her hostage inside a home at the Stony Creek Apartments in Washington Township.

The woman told officials her roommate assaulted her Tuesday evening and handcuffed her, demanding she remain in his bed all night, according to the sheriff's office.

The man continued the assault Wednesday and threatened the woman with a handgun, according to the sheriff's office.

A neighbor helped the woman escape the apartment at roughly 4 p.m. and call for help, according to the sheriff's office.

When officers arrived at the apartment, the man refused to come out, and instead, blocked the door from inside, according to the sheriff's office.

Officers then spotted the man running from the apartment roughly an hour later at 5 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.

Officers chased down the man and tased him, before eventually arresting him, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials said officers also found an unregistered handgun on the man.

He was placed in the Macomb County Jail while charges were pending. His next court date is scheduled for Friday.
