Monfort wraps up charity drive

Monfort Elementary students have wrapped up a successful fun run by helping feed needy families at home and across the globe.

The Monfort Student Council took the proceeds from its third annual Magic Marker Fun Run to purchase materials for more than 44,000 meals.

Recently, students took shifts during an all-day session to put together packages containing rice, chicken, vegetable and soy that is being distributed through Kids Against Hunger.

"What we're doing is really making a difference," said student Michael Yancy.
Students raised more than $13,000 during the fun run, which was held May 16.
