OAKLAND YOUTH ORCHESTRAS - CALL FOR AUDITIONS

Fall Audition Registration for specific instruments in the Oakland Youth Orchestras is going on now.

Student instrumentalists, ages 7-18, who want to broaden their music experience are invited to audition for membership in the Oakland Youth Orchestras’ (OYO) 41st season on September 1, 2015 at Oakland University, Varner Hall. Audition signups are available now online at www.oyomi.org.

OYO youth musicians will spend the 2015-16 season under the tutelage of conductors with extensive performance and music education backgrounds in a premier southeast Michigan orchestra program. Students will also have the opportunity to perform in 3 concerts with over 350 members.

Current openings include: Studio String Orchestra – violin, viola, bass; String Orchestra – violin, viola, bass; Philharmonia – violin, viola, bass, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone; Symphony – violin, viola, bassoon, french horn, trumpet. Auditions assist conductors in placing each student at the appropriate skill level to provide optimum learning conditions in each of OYO’s four orchestras. All returning and prospective OYO members must audition.

About Oakland Youth Orchestras
Oakland Youth Orchestras has been educating and enriching youth through music since 1975. OYO is a four-tiered orchestra program (Studio String, String, Philharmonia and Symphony orchestras) serving over 350 students generally in grades two through twelve from Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland and St. Clair counties in southeast Michigan. The mission of OYO is to inspire student musicians by providing an exceptional orchestral experience to public, private and home schooled students. OYO fosters enrichment through opportunities in music theory, chamber music, community outreach performances and competitions.

Every season, the Oakland Youth Orchestras holds three major concerts with all students in participation at the Oxford Fine Arts Center.
