Shots Fired During Attempted Break-In At Shelby Township Home: Police

Police said the shootout happened around 1:15 a.m. at a home on Valenti Lane near Michigan 59 and Hayes Road.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are looking for a group of suspected home invaders after a Thursday morning shootout at a Shelby Township condominium complex.

Police said the shootout happened around 1:15 a.m. at a home on Valenti Lane near Michigan 59 and Hayes Road.

Police believe the group of thieves, who were wearing ski masks, were trying to break into the condo in the early morning hours when shots were fired.

The suspected home invaders then drove away from the home in a Jeep, police said.

Police did not report any injuries in connection to the shooting.

"This appears to be a targeted home invasion and not a random act," said Shelby Township police Sgt. Mark Benedettini. "At this point it is unsure if anything was taken from the residence."

No further information was made available.

Police were still investigating the attempted home invasion and shooting.
