Switzer honored teacher Jan Bokros for 50 years of service to Switzer Elementary. Switzer Elementary turned 50 in grand style.
The school hosted its 50th celebration on May 1 with assemblies and a community birthday party.
The school also honored teacher Jan Bokros, who has taught at the school for 50 years. The school's media center is now named after Bokros.
In addition to the dedication ceremony, the school hosted sing-alongs with songs from the decades and presented information on the music and timelines of famous figures from the past half-century.
A birthday celebration at night included art and gym activities, a Hall of Memories with pictures and yearbooks, and the creation of a time capsule.
