UCS Means Success - Dr. David Klida

My story in Utica Community Schools began nearly 25 years ago when my wife Gene and I were looking for a community to raise our children. We were struck by how many realtors used the district as a selling tool for their developments. We felt that if realtors recognized the value of the school district, then it must be a strong community. We also wanted to find a growing community to establish my business that in many ways is very much family-oriented.

Today, I am a small business owner with an established chiropractic office in Shelby Township. My two children have now graduated. One has a PhD in space physics and the other is a graduate from law school.

I believe that Utica Community Schools always fights for all children. I also believe that the district not only provides a strong educational program, but also that it provides a rich community environment for children to learn and grow. In recent years, I think the district has done a great job navigating through the financial restraints that have been put on education. Just like its families, the district has had to make difficult budget decisions. Despite these changes, the district has kept the quality of its core educational program extremely high for students.

As a property and business owner, I believe it is important to have a strong school district to protect your investment. I feel fortunate to be in a district that realtors emphasize as a great selling feature. Utica Community Schools raises the value of your property. But even beyond that, it increases the value of your children’s education. Both of my sons have done extremely well after they graduated from Utica Community Schools. In addition, their education prepared them well for the environment faced when they went out into the world on their own.
