UCS Means SUCCESS - Army Sergeant First Class Adam Justin
Adam Justin Utica Community Schools Graduate Sergeant First Class Geospatial Engineer U.S. Army

I am proud to say I have spent my entire K-12 life in Utica Community Schools. I attended Burr Elementary, Jeannette Junior High School and graduated from Stevenson High School in 1995. Currently, I am a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army and am married with three children. I serve as a Geospatial Engineer, which means that I do a lot of mapping and surveying to keep our troops safe as they serve in combat.
My education challenged me. It definitely prepared me for my time in the military and my success in college. I am working on my second bachelor’s degree, which would not have been possible if it was not for my teachers and my UCS background. One teacher that has always had an impact on me is Mr. Jones from Burr Elementary. He got to know his students and always challenged them to get as much from their education as possible.
Even though UCS is Michigan’s second largest school district, it feels like a small town. You see such a strong level of support whenever you go to athletic events or school plays. The community cares so much about the schools.

If I knew someone that was moving to Michigan or to this area, I would definitely tell them to look at Utica Community Schools. I’ve actually recommended it to a few of my friends that are from this area. I had a great experience and great teachers during my time in UCS. I think it’s one of the best school districts in Michigan.
