Beja Parisi from Utica High School has won Best in Show in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition entitled, "Artistic Discovery."
The competition is sponsored by U.S. Representative Candice S. Miller of the 10th Congressional District of Michigan. This year there were more than 110 entries submitted from schools throughout the 10th District.
Beja's photograph, "3 Doors Down," will be displayed at an eleven month exhibit in the United States Capitol Building and will be the only artwork there that represents the state of Michigan.
Additionally Beja won two roundtrip tickets to fly to the ribbon cutting ceremony, a two night hotel stay, and a $1,500 scholarship (per year) from the Savannah School of Art and Design.
This year all of the art entries will be on display at Studio 1219 in Port Huron from April 4th-April 30th. UHS art teachers are Jennifer Allore and Joshua Etheridge.
