• Southfield pedestrian in wheelchair hit by car, dies (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — An 87-year-old Southfield resident died after being struck by a westbound vehicle while crossing 11 Mile Road in a motorized wheelchair near Marshall Street, according to Southfield police. Emergency crews responded Saturday evening, and the man later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. State data also show Michigan traffic deaths and serious injuries remain high this year. 
• Eastbound I-696 between M-10 and I-75 set to reopen before end of the year (wxyz.com) — Southfield drivers frustrated by the long eastbound I-696 closure between M-10 and I-75 can expect key ramps to reopen by early September and all eastbound lanes back by year’s end. MDOT also warns of more lane reductions next construction season between I-75 and Dequindre, so local commutes will remain impacted into 2027.
