Michigan is expected to be a swing state in the 2016 presidential election, and Paul, who is near the front of the Republican pack, is hoping to cultivate Macomb County’s “Ronald Reagan Democrats,” 10th Congressional District officials said in a statement.
A new national poll has Paul comfortably ensconced in the Top 10. He’s tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and they’re both behind businessman and entertainer Donald Trump, who surged to the front-runner position in a new Economist/YouGov poll. In that poll, 15 percent of respondents favored Trump, while 11 percent picked either Paul or Bush.

Paul, the son of 2012 Republican presidential contender Ron Paul, advocates a flat, 14.5 percent tax he says will simplify the tax code and make it more fair to all Americans.
Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Gott, the 10th Congressional District GOP chairman, said the district will play a vital role in determining the Republican presidential nominee. Gott thinks the Kentucky senator’s “message of defeating the Washington machine and ending corporate welfare” will resonate with voters in the district.
