The St. Clair Shores Cultural Committee is organizing a bus tour of the historic Mount Elliott and Elmwood cemeteries in Detroit on Oct. 1.
Both cemeteries are rich with history, and were founded before the Civil War. The tour will be narrated by Detroit historian Stewart McMillin and begins at Mount Elliott Cemetery. A catered buffet lunch at the Capuchin Fathers Monastery follows, along with a tour of the facility and a visit to the grave of Father Solanus Casey. Then the group will continue to Elmwood Cemetery.
Tickets are available at the St. Clair Shores Public Library for $25. Payment may be made by cash or check payable to theCity of St. Clair Shores. There are no refunds or waiting list for this event.
