Discover Detroit's "Salty" History

Discover the "Detroit Salt Mines: A History of the Detroit Salt Company." This library lecture brings you George L. Davis II, manager of Government Relations and Community Safety for the Detroit Salt Company, who will present an underground tour of the mines. The mines were discovered in 1895 and have been mined since 1906. Public tours are not available, so this lecture is a fantastic way to learn more about our history deep down in the salt mines and an insight into current mining operations.

This lecture is part of the St. Clair Shores Historical Commission's series of lectures in honor of Joseph Laurence Maison, free for the public to attend and enjoy.
