Macomb Community College is holding several events to commemorate Black History Month.
On Wednesday, Feb. 2, the college hosts a poetry reading by Jessica Care Moore, a Detroit poet who has won international acclaim. Moore is also a playwright, actor, activist and CEO of Moore Black Press. Her published works include The Words Don’t Fit in My Mouth, The Alphabet Verses, The Ghetto and God is Not an American. She has performed or collaborated with such artists as George Clinton, Mos Def and the late Ossie Davis.
Moore will be at the South Campus Library from 11 am-noon.
