Huskies Cheer Way To Strong Showing
Lakeview cheer squad finishes second at MAC Gold Division meet.

Despite a solid performance in all three rounds, the Huskies fell just short of capturing the Macomb Area Conference Gold Division competitive cheer meet Tuesday night at East Detroit High.
s total of 645.284 was just a shade more than 16 points behind champion L'Anse Creuse's score of 661.820.
"We've had some injuries to deal with this season," Lakeview coach Stephanie Charlie said. "That's been something we've been dealing with and I think it's hurt us some in the third round. We've had to change that program a lot this season."

The second-place finish is anything but disheartening to the Huskies and their fans.
The goal is to qualify for the state playoffs and points at these events are what matters, not finish.

"We want to go to states," said Huskies senior Christina Matthews. "That's what our goal is this season."
Matthews is one of a handful of talented seniors on the squad—a group that has been extremely valuable to the team's success. Lakeview is one of the top programs in the Gold.
"It's really between L'Anse Creuse and us," Charlie said. "We're kind of battling each other, really."
Lakeview trailed the rival Lancers after each round Tuesday night, falling behind, 201.6 to 205.2 after the first round, then 385.888 to 386.420 after the second round.
"I thought we did well tonight," Charlie said. "We've got some things to work on, but we did well tonight."
