The 14U girls Hurricanes became the first team from the Lac Saint Clair Little League to qualify for the state tournament Wednesday by winning the district tournament at Park.
The Hurricanes defeated L'Anse Creuse and the Harper Woods-Grosse Pointe teams to qualify for the state championship. The state tournament begins July 20 in Grand Rapids.
"This is a very exciting time for this team, the league, and our fans," parent Rosanne Pelc wrote in an email. "We are so proud of them for showing such determination, grace, and most importantly good sportmanship in representing themselves and the league."
