Lakeview Bowlers Excel
Huskies varsity boys bowling team took the top spot at L'Anse Creuse North's tournament this past weekend.
's varsity boys bowling team took first place in Saturday's L'Anse Creuse North Baker's Dozen Bowling Tournament at Imperial Lanes in Clinton Township.
The team comprised of Matt Giacona, Ben Wallace, Tyler Dombrowski, Morrie Cunha, Tony Peddicord and Jesse Cunningham qualified seventh among the 23-team field in the first round.
In the 16-team bracket, Lakeview beat , L'Anse Creuse North and Utica to earn the opportunity to meet Bay City Central in the championship match.

The Huskies won the first two games in the best-of-three game match against Bay City Central to earn the title.
This is the first tournament championship for Lakeview since winning the 2009 Macomb County Championship, according to athletic director Sean Zaborowski.

The junior varsity team also was successful at the L'Anse Creuse tournament. The team comprised of Nicholas Belloli, Mitch Cunha, Justin Bashaw, Dennis Selleck, Karl Schneider, Jordan Parker, Anthony Bardazon, Tyler Trevisan and Joe Romano qualified third among the 19-team field in the first round.
In the 16-team brackets, the junior varsity team defeated Warren Cousino, Romeo and Lake Orion and met Dakota in the championship match. In the best two-out-of-three-game final match against Dakota, Lakeview lost the first two games and came in second place.
This is the first time Lakeview has had two bowling teams advance to the championship match in their respective levels in the same tournament, Zaborowski said.
