"I know what I need to do to improve myself," said Woods. "This year I'm getting more distance and it helps me from tee to green. I'm getting more accurate with my approach shots and I'm better with course management. I know how to get out of trouble. And I've become a lot better putter."

Woods played in a few tournaments and took lessons over the summer to help get ready for the season. She credits her father and assistant golf coach at Lakeview, Gordy Woods, as a big supporter that "takes her everywhere and helps a lot."

"Kelly has a real drive," Lakeview golf coach Karen Mazzola said. "She came to me as a freshman last year having never played the game and did very well in our school's first year of having a team. Now she's taking it to the next level. As a coach you can only hope that the players get hooked on the game; she's definitively gotten hooked on the game. She played in some tournaments this summer to get that competitive edge. Once she gets the maturity and experience level up, she's going to be a great golfer. It's fun to watch her develop."
