School Brief: Lake Shore Athletic Field Wins Award

Lake Shore's athletic teams have experienced many triumphs on the field of play, now their home field is being acknowledged.

The athletic facility at has received the Distinguished Sports Field Facility award from the American Sports Builders Association.

The new athletic facility was completed in 2009, and included a new artificial turf multi-purpose field, all-weather surface renovation on the eight-lane running track and new field events.

Projects considered for the awards were scored individually on layout and design, site work, drainage, base construction, surface, amenities, innovation and overall impression. Winning entries were those whose cumulative scores met or exceed the standard, according to a statement released by Lake Shore.

"Being recognized by the ASBA for our commitment to quality design in an honor but the most rewarding aspect of our work is seeing the community enjoy the facility," said Bruce Lemons, president of Berkley-based Foresite Design,Inc. president which desinged the project, in a release.

Foresite is a member of the American Sports Builders Association, which is a national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities. The association annually presents awards to members.
