Valentine's for All Kinds of Cupids

CK takes a poll to find out the variety of plans Shorians have for Valentine's Day.

Since when did Valentine's Day come under scrutiny?

Sweetest Day, OK. That's a little shady.

But there is nothing sinister about Valentine's Day. It's a day to show your sweetie that you love them. It's been argued that "I show my dear every day that I love them. I don't need a holiday to do it."

Fine, but there a lot of other lovers in the Shores who are looking forward to flowers, candlelight, and romantic interludes, and venues who are ready for them.

Although she'll be in microbiology class on the 14th, Monica Fujara will be celebrating with her honey.

"We're going to the Fisher Theatre and taking in the Tony Award winning musical In The Heights, the St. Clair Shores resident said.

Before hitting the show they'll set up with some delicious dining at . "Some sushi, some cocktails ... it seems the perfect start of a nice night," Fujara said.

Fishbone's has an extensive menu of food and fun, and will have specials on the blackboard specifically for the romantic crowd that night.

Amelia Hinds and her girlfriends are taking their hubbies on a romp of remincing.

"Keep in mind we've been married for 25 years next month. We're going surprise them with dinner and dancing," said Hinds, of St. Clair Shores. "Of course, we'll have donned 'extreme club attire' to remind them of why they made us their Valentine all those years ago."

They expect to hit . With a sound system that puts the beats through your body and a video display system that's off the charts, the eyes and the ears will surely be sated.

"We'll have surprises, a lot of drink specials, and more," said Marcus Abdullah, club promoter.

Going the opposite route and taking stupid Cupid down a notch is Mike Moskal, who is attending a "Valentine's Day Sucks" party.

"I've been doing it for six years now, and it's still a blast. Couples come, singles come ... it's just a great excuse to party," said Moskal, of St. Clair Shores.

Since he's supplying the giggle juice for the party, he's stopping at on Masonic.

"We have a big selection of adult beverages, snacks, everything anyone needs to have a wonderful party for any holiday," said employee Mark Shaw. "If you're feeling really lucky, buy some Lotto tickets. Cupid would."

Wherever your Valentine weekend or day plans take you, we're sure The Shores has what your heart desires.
