• MI Man Died Of Rabies After Kidney Transplant: New Details Emerge (patch.com) — A Tecumseh man, 76-year-old Barney Kurowicki, died from rabies complications after receiving a kidney transplant from an out-of-state donor later suspected to have had the virus. Health officials say such rabies transmission through organ donation is extremely rare but are now recommending updated screening questions to better flag possible rabies exposure in future donors.
   

• Melissa Perez Burgess (wlen.com) — Tecumseh-born Melissa Perez Burgess, 57, who later lived in Adrian, has passed away, and family and friends can pay their respects locally this week. Visitation is Friday evening in Adrian, with funeral services Saturday morning and burial to follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens.
