Health & Fitness

Growing up at Riverside.

My father was a surgeon at Riverside.  In order to see my Dad, I would tag along for rounds on Saturday.  While he was making rounds I would sneak off down to Respiratory Therapy.  If they were between treaments and soaking the equipment we would squeeze a couple of games of black jack in.  If they were busy I would dismantle the aerosol units and set them in a new batch of soaking solution.  As I got older I worked in the cardiovascular animal lab under the interns and residents quarters.  I eventually did some of my training there and became a surgeon on staff there with my father.  Our office was across the north street (Truax) from the hospital.  She was a great hospital and a shame it had to close.
