Sclater Exemplifies Active Student Leadership

Trenton High School senior spearheads school courtyard project and heads to MSU in fall.

Whiz Kid:   Jake Sclater

Age:  18

Accomplishments:  Sclater serves as the current Student Council Executive Board President at Trenton High School.  He maintains a 3.4 grade point average and scored 26 on the ACT.

During his junior year as class president, Sclater envisioned a plan to convert an old courtyard at the school into a picnic/outdoor area for seniors to enjoy during lunch.  Sclater spearheaded and managed the project, working with all levels of administration as well as all of the contractors to secure bids and estimates to complete the conversion.   

In addition, Sclater recently worked on the Red Cross Blood Drive at the school, participated in a food drive for the Trenton Food Pantry and assists with the Rake-A-Difference program for senior citizens through the National Honor Society.

Sclater also serves as the historian of the Trenton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society and will attend Michigan State University in the fall to study electrical engineering. 

Key to Success:  "Jake has excellent leadership abilities," Trenton High School Principal Michael Doyle said.  "I have had the pleasure to see his leadership abilities with students, staff and adults.  He is a very motivated young man and his work at Trenton High School will have a long term impact."
