Trenton Schools Website Gets Digital Makeover
Trenton Public Schools website is redesigned for easier access to vital information, including school closings.
The Trenton Public Schools website has been redesigned to offer those looking for information about the district a clean, aesthetically pleasing place to find it.
“The major reason we wanted to redesign the site was to better serve the public and allow them to find the information they desired,” said John Savel, superintendent of Trenton Public Schools. “Much of the same information was on the old site. But we were using technology that made it hard to locate.”
Visitors to the old site would have no problem finding the information they needed, provided they knew where to look. Often it was buried two or even three layers deep. Updated news was relegated to the bottom of the page. But with the new site, users can scroll through the top news stories at eye level when they log on and useful categories, like Files & Folders or Links & Emails are clearly marked.

The site, which officially rolled out on Feb. 1, got its first big test when classes were cancelled due to a snowstorm. Visitors to the site were greeted with a giant snowflake, accompanied by an announcement letting parents and children alike know that they should stay home. It was one example of a real-time announcement that the district hopes to incorporate into future usage.
“The new site is a living, breathing animal that will be constantly updated,” said Savel. “But portions are still under construction, so we ask for patience over the next few weeks as we get the site up to snuff.”
