Why You May Not Get The Job...

JEN’S PERSONAL OPINION:

Many recruiters and hiring managers that I am associated with seem to have the same complaint about resumes submitted for open positions.  Candidates submit resumes that are clearly NOT QUALIFIED for the position being posted.  Those resumes get filed and most likely never seen again -- not even for another job that the candidate may have been qualified for.  A job posting can bring 1 to 1000s of resumes for an opening.  Recruiters aren't likely to remember every resume that ever crossed their desk.

We have all received the emails from the Job Boards that "you may be a match for the following job openings" -- odds are you're not.  Maybe your resume has some keywords that match others in the job posting or maybe you applied for something similar in the past?  ALWAYS read the job posting thoroughly before you click the APPLY NOW button.

In closing, if you are that candidate that says "well I know I don't fit this job description but this way the company will have my resume on file" -- it's always better to apply for the position YOU ARE qualified for.  You deserve to stick out in a crowd...not filed away because you were unqualified.

Good luck in your career search!
