A father opened fire in a Troy home Tuesday morning, killing his daughter and injuring his wife before fatally shooting himself, police said

TROY, MI — A father opened fire in a Troy home Tuesday morning, killing his daughter and injuring his wife before fatally shooting himself, police said.

Police said the 39-year-old wife ran to her neighbor's condo on Brentwood Street to call 911 at 11:12 a.m. after her 52-year-old husband shot her, police said. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where her condition was unknown.

The woman told police that her husband left their home on Brentwood Street, where officers found a young girl shot to death in an upstairs bedroom, police said. Officers believe the young girl was the family's daughter.

Shortly later, officers found the husband's car parked at the Northfield Hills Condominium Complex Clubhouse, where they said he fatally shot himself inside the vehicle, police said. Officers recovered a handgun from the husband inside the car. They believe it was used in all three shootings.

Troy High School and Hamilton Elementary School were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning during the incident, police said. Officers advised there is no public threat, as the shootings were the result of a domestic incident. An investigation is continuing.
