Athens Takes Seventh Place in State Marching Band Competition
High school pays tribute to Amelia Earhart with a performance themed 'Spirit of Adventure.'
The Marching Band placed within the top 10 bands in the state on Saturday during the 2011 Michigan Competing Band Association Championship, which brought 48 bands from across Michigan to Ford Field to compete in the annual event.
Bands were divided into four flights, with each flight containing 12 performances. An awards ceremony was held after each flight and each band received either a plaque or a trophy, depending on their place. Trophies were also given for best music, best effect and best marching.
Thousands of family members and fans streamed into Ford Field throughout the day, to cheer on their school and watch some of the best marching in Michigan.
