Twelve-Student Class Size & Special Programs Make Discovery Corner a Good Choice for Full-Day Kindergarten.
If your child is ready to start Kindergarten in the fall, he/she will grow academically and socially through the many learning opportunities offered by Discovery Corner Academy in Troy.
Discovery Corner will be holding its Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2012-2013 school year on Wednesday, March 21, 9-10:30 a.m. During the Round-Up, parents will be able to meet the teacher and children will get a taste of the program.
Ms. Richele, who has taught Kindergarten at Discovery Corner for 13 years, will meet for one and a half hours with the children to do special activities. In addition, parents can make an appointment to meet with Academy Director Loretta Marcotullio at a later date to discuss the curriculum and ask questions.

“Once your child is enrolled at Discovery Corner, he or she will receive regular one-on-one time with the Kindergarten teacher, reviewing sight words and phonics,” explained Marcotullio. “Parents are amazed at how quickly their children learn to read with an experienced teacher and a class no larger than 12 students. The personalized program helps children reach their full potential.”
Also, as a student in Ms. Richele’s Kindergarten class, your child will be exposed to exciting new activities. For example, this year, she taught the class about Chinese New Year, including traditions, art, geography and food. The age-appropriate lesson plans included puzzles, coloring sheets, facts, writing opportunities and more.

“At the end of the unit, it was fun to watch the Kindergarten class eat fortune cookies and learn how to use chop sticks,” said Marcotullio. “After all, hands-on materials and projects nurture your child’s curiosity and creativity,” explained Marcotullio. “That is the key to learning.”
