Route will include stops at restaurants, shopping destinations, hotels and the Troy Transit Center.

(Originally posted on Dec. 16, 2016) TROY, MI — Just in time for last-minute Christmas shopping and fun, a free shuttle service will start Monday in Troy under a new lease agreement between the city and the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART), The Troy Times reported. The shuttle will run along Big Beaver Road.
“We feel we have the capacity to take on the maintenance of the vehicles, and repairs would have a higher priority than they would with SMART,” Troy Public Works Director Kurt Bovensiep told the the City Council at a recent meeting.
Stops will be fluid and based on usage, he said.

SMART provided the vehicles at no cost to the city through grant funding. The Big Beaver shuttle service will operate two loops, traveling east and west along Big Beaver Road.
