A Highland Park man is in trouble after police said he broke into a Troy home while the resident was in the shower last week.

TROY, MI — A man is in trouble after police said he broke into a Troy home while the resident was in the shower last week.

The 53-year-old Highland Park man was charged with first-degree home invasion, which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Police said that around 3:17 p.m. on May 27, the resident was getting out of a shower inside a home on the 4400 block of Livernois Road when he saw the home invader.

The home invader then cornered the resident and demanded his wallet, police said.

The resident was able to escape the home and make his way to a neighbor's house where he called police, while the home invader left the area on a bike, police said.

Officers found the home invader shortly later riding a bike and arrested him in connection to the home invasion, police said.

Officers found numerous pieces of jewelry and watches in his pants pockets, police said.
